REDLANDS - A small group of book lovers gathered Wednesday night
at Barnes & Noble to discuss "The Kite Runner," this year's
selection for Redlands' One City, One Book program.
Now in its second year, One City, One Book, sponsored by the
University of Redlands, A.K. Smiley Public Library and the Redlands
Daily Facts, urges all residents of Redlands to read the same book
at once. During the inaugural year, Mary Shelley's "Frankenstein"
was the selection.
"The Kite Runner," by Afghan-born Khaled Hosseini, tells the
story of two boys growing up in Kabul, Afghanistan, one the son of a
prominent man, the other the son of his servant. The tale is set
