Mountain Lakes Amphitheater has launched its third season with a line-up that includes nationally known performers and opportunities for area musicians to compete for cash.

"We try to get a variety of artists," said Janet Gibson, director of the amphitheater located off the Flatwoods exit of Interstate 79. "Mainly, we try to stick to the more conservative for family- friendly acts. We want clean, affordable shows for families."

The amphitheater has 1,700 stadium-style seats plus room for 300 in the grass.

During the first season in 2006, there were 15 shows with 10,000 tickets sold.
