'The wait for an ambulance felt like forever - he could have died'

The family of a Swansea boy who suffered a severe epileptic fit say a 40-minute wait for an ambulance put his life at risk.

Although a rapid response unit was on the scene after just four minutes, Samuel Llewellyn's mum Emma says there was only so much he could do. She claims he did not have the right equipment and was unable to get her son to hospital.

It was almost 40 minutes before an ambulance arrived and six- year-old Samuel was able to be taken to hospital for treatment and checks.

Mrs Llewellyn, aged 25, said she called the emergency services after she heard Samuel making choking noises.

She rushed to him and found he was having a fit. A minute later she dialled 999.
