Albert J. Mezzanotte Jr. will step down next year as managing
partner of Baltimore-based Whiteford, Taylor & Preston LLP. His
successor, Martin T. Fletcher, will take over on June 1, 2009, after
serving one year as managing partner elect.
The law firm announced the change on Thursday, following a vote
by the partners.
Fletcher, a 1989 graduate of Duke University's law school, is a
business and corporate restructuring lawyer who has been on the
firm's management committee since 2006. In a statement, he noted
that Whiteford is celebrating its 75th anniversary and, citing the
firm's 150 attorneys in Maryland, Virginia, Delaware and the
