An arsonist targeted his parents by putting a burning item
through the letterbox of their city home, a court heard.
Judge Graham Cottle said Shane Cutts could be given a community
order with a mental health treatment requirement for the offences.
The judge said it was a better option than simply releasing him
on the streets as he had already served the equivalent of a prison
sentence while remanded in custody since his arrest.
Exeter Crown Court was told that 23-year-old Cutts had been
diagnosed with psychopathic personality disorder by one of the
doctors who has assessed him while awaiting sentencing.
