NEW YORK -- An all-day rain that fouled up air traffic, train
traffic and automobile traffic fouled up the Cincinnati Reds-New
York Mets baseball game Friday, May 9.
After waiting an hour past the 7:10 scheduled time, the game was
called off, so the two teams will play a day-night, split-gate
doubleheader today. The first game is scheduled for 1 p.m.; then
they clear out Shea Stadium to charge separate admission for the
7:30 game.
"What a wasted day," Reds manager Dusty Baker said. "Life owes us
all an extra day of our lives after this one."
Matt Belisle faces Johan Santana in the first game and Bronson
Arroyo faces Mike Pelfrey in the second game.
