Exmouth travelled to South Devon with a depleted side expecting
the worst - and found the home team had even more problems than they
did.
South Devon were forced to call up 61-year-old former Devon
wicketkeeper Joe Oliver, ex-first-team captain Richard Blood, who
retired more than a decade ago, and Express & Echo cricket writer
Conrad Sutcliffe, who hadn't played in a league game for 25 years.
With a sprinkling of teenagers thrown in, South Devon had a real
scratch side out, which made their achievement in bowling Exmouth
out for 189 all the more remarkable.
Mike Collinge top scored for Exmouth with 58 not out and Lloyd
Loman made the next best of 47. The pair put on 80 for the fourth
wicket.
