Small shop strain

SMALL traders in London bear a disproportionate share of the country's tax burden. Because business rates reflect high London rents, regardless of an individual business's level of profits, the pressure on small shops is heavy. This burden is all part of the struggle for traders who lack the muscle of big retail chains.
