BORIS JOHNSON maintained the frantic pace of his mayoralty today
as it emerged that he will personally oversee London's transport as
well as resume his newspaper columns.
Less than a week after confirming that he will chair the
Metropolitan Police Authority, the Mayor made a surprise
announcement that he would also chair the Transport for London
board. His intentions emerged as the Standard learned that he will
be paid around [pounds]250,000 a year for writing for the Daily
Telegraph. The money will be on top of his Mayor's salary of
[pounds]137,579.
To counter criticism about his workload, he is expected to write
the column in his spare time at weekends. He will also write columns
