TRANSIT; Keep this route open; Students and officials at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee should try to find a way to keep funding bus service from Waukesha County to the university.

Friday will be the last day of exam week for University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee students. It's also the last day that students and employees who live in Waukesha County may be able to ride a bus from Goerkes Corners in the Town of Brookfield to UWM. That's too bad, and UWM officials should do what they can to restore the service when they can.

Students voted to shut down the service because they felt its costs outweighed its benefits. The service, run by Wisconsin Coach Lines, costs $90,000 a year and serves an average of 120 students and 20 employees a day.
