NEW HAVEN -- Tweed New Haven Regional Airport is forging ahead
with its runway safety area project, despite East Haven's
objections.
The airport filed suit in federal court Monday to prevent East
Haven -- in which much of Tweed lies -- from enforcing regulations
that require it to approve the project's plans.
"We filed in federal court an action to bar the town of East
Haven from interfering in any way with the planned construction of
the runway safety project," said the airport's lawyer, Hugh Manke.
Tweed is seeking a temporary restraining order and injunction
"against the enforcement of any local regulations" with regard to
the federally mandated runway ...
