A LAST-ditch bid to save Uplands Post Office has been launched by
Stroud Town Council.
It has vowed to 'put pounds75,000 on the table' as a challenge to
Post Office Ltd to keep the Uplands branch open.
If its offer is refused it will consider running a rival
'community post office' at Uplands Post Office, Springfield Road,
which may offer similar services through different providers.
Newly elected deputy mayor Coun Andy Read (Valley ward) outlined
his proposal to fellow councillors at Monday night's annual meeting
of the town council.
