Exmouth travelled to South Devon with a depleted side expecting
the worst - and found the home team had even more problems than they
did.
South Devon were forced to call up 61-year-old former Devon
wicketkeeper Joe Oliver, ex-first-team captain Richard Blood, who
retired more than a decade ago, and Herald Express cricket writer
Conrad Sutcliffe, who hadn't played in a league game for 25 years
prior to Saturday.
With a sprinkling of teenagers thrown in, South Devon had a real
scratch side out, which made their achievement bowling Exmouth out
for 189 all the more remarkable.
