Former Grimsby Town wide man John Thorrington is back in action in Major League Soccer after two years of injury heartbreak.

The USA international, who played three times for the Mariners in a two-month spell at the end of the 2003/4 campaign, is again starring for Chicago Fire.

He featured in the 2-0 win over DC United on Thursday, scored a goal and registered an assist to power the Fire to a 3-0 victory over New England five days earlier and scored twice in their previous outing - a 2-1 win over Colorado.

It's a fine comeback for the ex-Mariner and he admits it is a relief to return after his future was put in doubt following a succession of injuries.
