Tempers had earlier flared in the streets of Manchester after one
of the big screens set up to show the big UEFA Cup final between
Rangers and Zenit St Petersburg failed.
Six Rangers fans were arrested by Greater Manchester Police after
a Russian fan was stabbed. His injuries are not thought to be life-
threatening.
Tens of thousands of Rangers fans had gathered in Piccadilly
Gardens to watch the clash but were left disappointed when technical
problems prevented the broadcast of the match.
Manchester City Council tried frantically to fix the problem
before it began, however their efforts failed to impress some of the
crowd who began pelting beer bottles and cans at riot police.
