MILWAUKEE -- When Cubs reliever Scott Eyre spotted a member of the team perusing the daily newspaper clips from Chicago in Houston's visiting clubhouse last week, he loudly scolded him: "Why are you reading that [stuff]?"

Count Eyre among the players who think the media created the perception that Dusty Baker's job was in question before the Cubs beat Milwaukee 11-4 Sunday for their third straight victory and fourth in their last five games.

Unfortunately for Baker, that small spurt of success is outweighed by a 34-54 record entering the All-Star break.
