Article: USADA OFFICIAL DISAGREES WITH REVIEW ON HGH

The head of the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency isn't buying a study that found worsened athletic performance among young men who use human growth hormone.

Travis Tygart, chief executive officer of Colorado Springs-based USADA, disputed the results of a review conducted by a San Jose, Calif., doctor that was published last month in the Annals of Internal Medicine.

Hau Liu of the Santa Clara Valley Medical Center argues HGH does not improve exercise capacity or strength based on the 27 studies involving 303 participants his research team analyzed. He notes multiple side effects such as fatigue and swelling for HGH users.
