According to some statistics, this country is managing to consume
more wine than the French, which remains the home of the finest
vintages. They have created an industry that continues with the same
passion of their forebears, which will suffer through too much or
too little rainfall during the season, but even more during the
vendange if the weather is unsympathetic.
Not being a wine-growing people like many other European
countries, the British have had to content themselves with producing
accessories with which to enjoy this range of wine, that varies from
year to year in quality and, naturally, value.
A good "nose" in a drink is usually of benefit to a wine, though
not the current crop ...
