Claiming the state's judicial nominating process is being
politicized, a member of the Anne Arundel County Judicial Nominating
Commission resigned Wednesday after Senate President Thomas V. Mike
Miller Jr.'s son was put on the list of nominees to become a county
District Court judge.
Paula Peters, a family law attorney in Annapolis who said she has
been involved with the 13-member commission for more than two
decades, said she resigned after political figures lobbied her and
others to include Thomas V. Miller III on the list.
The committee passed over Mr. Miller, a 12-year veteran of the
Maryland Parole Commission, in February after he applied for one of
three vacant positions in the county.
