Article: Pomona Valley Hospital nurse accused of misconduct by state

POMONA - An investigation by the state Department of Public Health has found that a nurse at Pomona Valley Hospital Medical Center accessed sedatives and narcotics from an automated system without a doctor's order.

Through a series of interviews and a review of records, state investigators found a 76-year-old woman was admitted to the hospital March 6 due to a seizure disorder and died March 9 of apparent respiratory failure.

It has not yet been determined if the woman's death was caused by the improper administration of medication.
