Article: Shameful ; A Walk In The Park Trees uprooted as part of overhaul of Cannon Hill Park's arts complex

IN LESS than three weeks since the MAC closed for an 18-month pounds 13.5 million refurbishment, developers have already obliterated two of Cannon Hill Park's best features.

And, in so doing, surely disregarded the wishes of Louisa Anne Ryland when she gifted the park to the city 135 years ago in 1873.

Louisa said: "Through the bounty of God I have the great pleasure of giving Cannon Hill Park to the Corporation of Birmingham for the use of the inhabitants and neighbours.

"I would express my earnest hope that the Park may prove to be a source of healthful recreation to the people of Birmingham, and that they will aid in the protection and preservation of what is now
