NEW HAVEN -- The standoff between Yale University and a senior
art student appears to have ended in a draw.
Senior Aliza Shvarts substituted a different work of art to
fulfill her senior project requirement, but she avoided the issue of
having to sign a statement that her original piece was a work of
fiction, Yale officials said.
Shvarts set off a firestorm of criticism when she announced two
weeks ago that she had inseminated herself numerous times in the
last year, then induced multiple miscarriages and planned to show
videos of it as part of a performance piece.
