He was the first British singer to take the lead role at the
world famous La Scala opera house and Placido Domingo personally
invited him to sing in America.
But tonight, residents of a small market town will get to hear
the 'English Pavarotti' sing his favourite tunes in their church.
Ian Storey, the latest darling of the international opera world,
is to give a concert at Leominster Priory to help his son's former
school, Lucton, mark its 300th anniversary.
He may not yet be as famous as fellow tenors Jose Carreras,
Placido Domingo and the late great Luciano Pavarotti, and in this
country his face is less recognisable than even the most minor pop
stars.
