A Portable building set to be used as changing rooms for a junior football team was deliberately torched, police have confirmed.

Kirton in Lindsey Junior Football Club had good news in obtaining a 20-year lease of Jack Tighe's playing field, the old cricket ground, on South Cliff Road.

But bad news swiftly followed when the building was burnt last Thursday, just after 7pm.

The portable building was owned by construction company Jack Tighe Ltd, which has offices opposite the field.

Jack Tighe managing director Martin Hillyard said: "It was supposed to be used for changing rooms for the junior football team.
