If support for the Guinness Premiership play-off format in the
Gloucester area was scarce before yesterday, it is non-existent this
morning.
For a third season in six, Gloucester will not be crowned English
champions despite topping the Premiership after the 22-game toil of
the regular season.
They were undone by a combination of Leicester's dogged
determination and their own shortcomings at Kingsholm yesterday,
three times holding a nine-point advantage only to collapse under
the weight of their own indecision.
Gloucester, outscored by two tries to one, led 12-3, 15-6 and 22-
13 before 10 unanswered points from the visitors gave them the
