Terrorism, Al Qaeda and intelligence were on the agenda last
night at Exeter University as Sir Richard Dearlove KCMG OBE spoke on
National Security for the 21st Century - new threats and new
approaches.
Between August 1999 and July 2004, Sir Richard headed up the UK's
Secret Intelligence Service (SIS), otherwise known as MI6. The man
himself was simply known as C.
During an intelligence career lasting 38 years, Sir Richard saw
service in Nairobi, Prague, Paris, Geneva and Washington.
