Wiltshire could be left without an air ambulance or a police
helicopter, police chiefs have warned.
And the intervention of Wiltshire's chief constable and the
chairman of its police authority is certain to put more pressure on
ambulance bosses over a year-long review into the service provided
by the shared aircraft.
It is the first time police chiefs in Wiltshire have gone public
on the ongoing uncertainty over the county's air ambulance
provision, and mentioned the "nuclear" option of doing away with the
police's aerial ability altogether, if the ambulance bosses pull
out.
