Important practical aid has been sent to the people of Burma -
and the kindness of people in the Grimsby and Cleethorpes area made
it possible.
After the devastating cyclones which affected the Asian country,
Rotary clubs in the area backed a nationwide ShelterBox Appeal, as
reported.
At the cost of pounds500, a ShelterBox contains a waterproof
shelter, a warm bed, a water purification kit, cooking aids and
utensils, a practical tool kit and children's pack.
A total of pounds6,000 has been raised by Rotary clubs in the
region, including the Cleethorpes, Grimsby and Grimsby St James'
groups, and 12 boxes have already been sent to Burma.
ShelterBox is a charity set up by Rotarians in Cornwall.
