Dozens of farms in the Westcountry are signed up to open their
doors to the public next weekend for the second Open Farm Sunday.
The scheme, run by LEAF (Linking Environment And Farming), has
been given an added boost this time as it is tied in with the Year
of Food and Farming in schools, which aims to tell children about
British farming and its value to maintaining the countryside as well
as providing food.
One of the scheme's pioneers, Rona Amiss, of Higher Fingle Farm,
Crockernwell, Devon, said: "Last year we had fantastic weather and a
great turnout for a really fun event. It was rewarding to see so
many people interested in how we farm and in what is going on in the
countryside."
