Article: TV, APPLIANCE STORE EXPANDS AT LAST ; George Washington Toma goes outside of Weymouth

BROCKTON - George Toma had been mulling an expansion of his East Weymouth TV and appliance store, George Washington Toma, for more than a decade. The right opportunity never seemed to present itself.

Then, about a year ago, Toma's longtime friend and colleague Dick Karp, primary owner of Central Stores TV and Appliance, asked Toma if he would consider taking over the 4,200-square foot store near Westgate Mall in Brockton when Karp retired.

"The first time he mentioned it, I thought he must be crazy," Toma said, "but the more we talked about it, the more it made perfect sense."
