Shawnee County emergency management director Dave Sterbenz thinks
he knows why nearly two dozen emergency sirens failed to sound early
Friday as storms came through northeast Kansas.
But Sterbenz said Saturday he won't discuss the reason publicly
until Monday's test of the sirens confirms he is correct.
Sterbenz said he and technicians with the county and Grain
Valley, Mo.-based Blue Valley Public Safety - the company that
addresses problems with the county's sirens - worked Saturday to
troubleshoot the county's siren system.
Sterbenz said they tested all five county sirens that failed to
sound during both a test last Monday and a time of severe weather ...
