BELLEVILLE - Looks can be deceiving.
Take the basement in Mary Elizabeth Kunc's home, where rows and
rows of shot glasses are displayed on shelves mounted to the walls.
But whiskey and vodka haven't come near her lips.
"I have shot glasses, but I don't drink a drop," the 80-year-old
Belleville resident said.
Kunc grew up in Diller, Neb., a tiny community where she met her
future husband, Bohman, at a skating party in 1948. Kunc was a
college student at the time, studying to be a teacher.
The couple married in 1951 and moved to a farm outside of Narka
in Republic County, where they raised hogs, cattle and chicken and
