The Pirates released pitcher Matt Morris this morning, one day
after he dropped to 0-4 with a loss to the Phillies.
The Pirates will pay Morris the balance of his $10.03 million
salary, plus a $1 buyout for the 2009 season.
Left-hander Phil Dumatrait will join the rotation and presumably
start on Thursday in Washington.
Right-hander John Van Benschoten was called up from Class AAA
