Matt Morris could sense it as he walked off the mound to a chorus
of boos Saturday night.
"I've always said the other team will let you know when you are
done," he said.
Sunday, his own team also let him know.
The Pirates released the right-hander and his $10 million salary,
deciding his clubhouse presence and leadership weren't enough to
offset his woeful pitching.
"I could feel it all coming to an end in a hurry," Morris said.
"I've been a burden on the bullpen. I wish I could have gone off
with more dignity."
Morris, 0-4 with a team-worst 9.67 ERA, won't leave empty-
handed. His contract is guaranteed, meaning he will be paid the
reminder of his 2008 salary of $10,037,283 as well as a $1 ...
