NEW YORK -- The addition of Phil Dumatrait has made the Pirates'
starting rotation heavy with left-handed pitchers.
Dumatrait moved into the rotation Sunday after right-hander Matt
Morris was released. Dumatrait, who had been working in long relief -
- he pulled mop-up duty in three of Morris' five dismal outings --
will make his first start Thursday against the Washington Nationals.
"I've never seen four lefties in a rotation," Dumatrait said
Monday, before the Pirates' game against the New York Mets was
rained out. "But if they feel like it's our best chance of winning,
I don't see it as being a big deal, really."
Technically, Dumatrait fills the No. 4 spot in the rotation. But
