CINCINNATI -- Ian Snell is fighting with his command.

"I need to get my (stuff) together," Snell said Tuesday, after walking seven batters in the Pirates' 9-6 loss against the Cincinnati Reds. "I'm letting everybody down. I'm letting myself down. I know I'm better than this."

Snell is fighting himself.

"Sometimes, he's trying too hard to execute the pitch," catcher Ronny Paulino said. "He's trying to make the perfect pitch every time. When you're trying so hard like that, you put a lot of pressure on yourself."
