The folk musician Roy Bailey (left), 66, began his singing career
in a skiffle band in 1958 and has since performed at clubs and
festivals around the world. A retired academic, he is now an Emeritus
Professor of Sheffield Hallam University. Fans of his music include
Billy Bragg and Mo Mowlam. He lives in Sheffield with his wife Val.
They have two children.
Born in London, Tony Benn, 76, was first elected a Labour MP in
1950. He finally retired from Parliament last year, but remains a key
figure in politics. He was chairman of the Labour Party from 1971 to
1972 and twice contested its leadership. Benn's wife Caroline, by
whom he has four children, died in 2000. He lives in west London
