Egypt seeks to curb inflation, ease people's suffering: PM

CAIRO, April 28 (Xinhua) -- Egyptian Prime Minister Ahmed Nazef said the government has been exerting efforts to curb price hikes and ease the suffering of its people, particularly the low-income citizens, the official MENA news agency reported on Monday.

In an interview with Al Watani Al Youm newspaper, Nazef said he is worried about the current price hikes of food, building materials and a inflation rate which increased to 15.8 percent in March, said MENA.

Nazef said the government has taken measures, including raising salaries, reducing customs and banning of exportation of staple commodities, to curb inflation.
