Power restored to Caracas after much of Venezuela hit by power outage

CARACAS, April 29 (Xinhua) -- Power has been basically restored to the capital city Caracas, after a major power outage hit central and western Venezuela Tuesday, leaving almost half of the country with electricity, authorities said.

The power failure started at 4:15 p.m. local time (2015 GMT), affecting 13 provinces and Caracas and bringing the country's metro to a standstill.
