Spain's vice PM urges to ratify Lisbon Treaty

MADRID, April 30 (Xinhua) -- Spanish Vice Prime Minister Maria Teresa Fernandez de la Vega urged Wednesday his country to ratify the Lisbon Treaty, which was said "vital" to the future of the European Union.

Spain should show its vocation to favor the European integration and its wish to "be among the first" in the process, reports quoted the vice prime minister as saying. He regarded the treaty as "vital to building a more legitimate, transparent and humane EU."

The Spanish government on Wednesday approved the Organic Law Project of the treaty and sent it to parliament for authorization.
