KINSHASA, May 23 (Xinhua) -- The preservation of the forests and
energy issues were at the center of discussions when President
Joseph Kabila of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) met with
French Environment Minister Jean-Louis Borloo, the local press
announced Friday.
"President Kabila is convinced of the need to preserve the
country's forest resources," whose cover is estimated at 145 million
hectares, of which more than half is made up of dense humid forest,
the French environment minister told reporters at the end of the
presidential palace meeting.
