Nepali Deepak Rai wins Qomolangma marathon

SOLUKHUMBHU, Nepal, May 29 (Xinhua) -- Nepali runner Deepak Rai scored three successive victories in the 6th edition of Tenzing Hillary Everest Marathon, the world's highest altitude marathon on Thursday.

Deepak, the 27-year-old farmer hailing from Solukhumbu district, some 150 km east of Nepali capital Kathmandu, set the record by completing the marathon which runs through highest glaciers of world starting from the base camp of Mt. Qomolangma (Mt. Sagarmatha) at the altitude of 5,364 meters in 3 hours 53 minutes and 14 seconds.
