Rosie Marquez's senior project is a far stretch from her
interests four years ago when she was a freshman at Grandview High
School. In Mike Manship's art class, she struggled and knew little
about painting beyond the vertical brush strokes she used to paint
the walls in her family home.
Now, at 17, she's a few days from completing a mural of 12
composers representing various genres on the walls of the school's
music room. This aspiring psychologist has found a passion in
painting.
"I've learned a lot from doing this project -- like how much I
love art, more than I thought I did," Marquez said. "I'm fascinated
with art."
