He's produced hit albums for Van Halen ("5150") and Billy Joel
("Storm Front"), played backup to '60s French chanteuse Sylvie
Vartan, and is stepdad to buzzed-about DJs Samantha and Mark Ronson.
But Mick Jones, 63, is best known for writing the songs that make
Foreigner fans sing. Tunes like "Urgent," "I Want to Know What Love
Is," and "Hot Blooded" got a workout when the band played the recent
tribute to Atlantic Records cofounder Ahmet Ertegun, which grabbed
headlines for the reunion of old pals Led Zeppelin. (Foreigner's
latest drummer, Jason Bonham, pulled double duty sitting in for his
dad, original Zep kit man John.) Tonight, the guitarist-keyboardist
