The skies of Bristol and Bath are now being patrolled by the
area's own flying hospital... its first air ambulance.
The former Avon area's air ambulance is based at Filton Airport
and is able to reach the furthest parts of the area in eight
minutes.
It has taken a year to set up and paramedics and doctors say it
now means they can bring the hospital to the patient, a huge boost
in their battle to save lives.
And bosses from Great Western Ambulance Service (GWAS) are
adamant the new Avon air ambulance will not mean the end of the
line for Wiltshire's medical helicopter.
