Princess Yachts International is being sold to a French firm, The
Herald has learned.
Directors of the the luxury boatbuilder, which has its
headquarters in Newport Street in Stonehouse, were expected to make
an announcement to staff this morning.
Last night the company made no statement. However, The Herald
understands the deal is worth around pounds200million.
The firm's 1,600 workers were expected to be given more details
of the sale discussions first thing this morning by the company's
management team.
Shop stewards for the Unite union, which represents the majority
of the company's workforce, were due to meet at 7.30am today.
