Roundup: Western countries respond positively to Libya's friendly gestures

BEIJING, Feb. 12 (Xinhua) -- Western countries have responded positively to Libya's flurry of friendly gestures after Tripoli agreed last August to take full responsibility for the Pan-AM airliner bombing over Lockerbie.

Libyan Foreign Minister Abdel Rahman Mohammed Shalgam traveled to London on Monday for a two-day working visit, the first to Britain by a Libyan foreign minister after Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi took office in 1969.

During his stay in London, Shalgam held talks with British Prime Minister Tony Blair and Foreign Secretary Jack Straw, who described Shalgam's as a truly historical visit.
