Kerry wins Wisconsin primary
WASHINGTON, Feb. 17 (Xinhua) -- John Kerry, a senator from
Massachusetts, won the primary in Wisconsin on Tuesday, moving a step
closer to winning the Democratic Party's presidential nomination.
Preliminary results showed that Kerry had 39 percent of the vote,
followed closely by Senator John Edwards from North Carolina with 35
percent of the vote. Former Vermont governor Howard Dean, a one-time
front-runner before the nominating process started in January,
received only 18 percent.
With Tuesday's first-place finish, Kerry has won 15 of the 17
contests held so far.
