Writethru: Kerry set to become Democratic presidential nominee
WASHINGTON, March 2 (Xinhua) -- Democratic presidential front-
runner John Kerry tightened his grip Tuesday on the party's nominee
to challenge incumbent US President George W. Bush, after sweeping
four states by victory in the "Super Tuesday" battle.
The Massachusetts senator, who has netted 18 victories from the
first 20 contests, again emerged winner in Democratic primaries in
Ohio, Connecticut, Maryland and his home state of Massachusetts.
The fresh wins of Kerry, on the one hand, clinched his Democratic
nomination to face Bush, the uncontested Republican candidate, in the
