Annan urges international cooperation in fight against terrorism

UNITED NATIONS, March 16 (Xinhua) -- UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan said here Tuesday that terrorism was not the only factor affecting elections in Spain, and Madrid bombings served to underscore the need for international cooperation in the fight against terror.

"Let me say that the events in Spain need to be looked at very critically," Annan said, responding to a question whether the recent Spanish elections has been affected by terrorism.

"Obviously there were many factors, one was the question of who did it, and whether the public felt they got a full, clear picture from the Government of what was going on," he told ...
